Week 2 - Character designs wrapped up. Names for characters accomplished. All character design posters close to being finished. Talked more about the 3 act script format. Completed version 4 script and waiting final approval. Viewed documentary on Marvel artists and their roles. Discussed Jughead #165 comic and formulated some questions for Archie Comics writer, Craig Boldman who has graciously agreed to talk to us via speaker phone next week. Thumbnails completed, layouts completed, and layouts transfered to blueline board should be completed on Thursday including changes from final script approval.
Week 3 - Layouts transferred to Blue line boards. Apprentices put in a lot of work this week on pencil details on the blue line boards. Inking has begun and will complete this week. Another apprentice group has organized to focus on a second short story to be included in the graphic novel "Stand." Apprentices were given guidelines and a brainstorm session began and within an hour we had a character and supporting characters and a basic plot in the 3 act format. Amber was given the charge to take it from there. The next day we had a character name and panel by panel sketch on 3x 5 cards and began the the transfer to sketch paper. On Wednesday the transfer to blue line board began. The inking will begin on Thursday. How's that for a finished story in a week!! "Stand" posters were completed on Wednesday. On Wednesday, the apprentices were treated to a chat with Craig Boldman, Archie Comics and Archie comic strip writer via speaker phone. The graphic novel is now a 20 pages (including the cover) with Kirbie the Penguin, being the bonus feature.

Week 3.5 (July 4th weekend) - Crunch time was on full force. Boards that needed inking were completed. Boards were then scanned and digital text and balloons followed. Checked for errors. Care taken that the images were correct size. Gray tone images were converted to half tone. Checked for errors again. Cover designs completed for all four pages. Art was zipped and uploaded to the printers. Oops...discovered the front cover page was the wrong one!! Uploaded the correct one...how did that happen with all the double checking? Sounds like an easy weekend? Not quite.
Check out some of the planning that went into the graphic novel
Week 4 - Graphic novel and poster proofs back from printers. Poster proofs look great!! Found some typos on the graphic novel - corrected and uploaded changes to printers.
